With Secretary Hillary Clinton scheduled to testify about the State Department’s fiscal year 2011 budget before four Congressional committees this week, the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Global Health Gateway provides key information, data and news on the Global Health Initiative, the Administration’s comprehensive global health strategy originally announced last year. Relevant resources from the Kaiser gateway include:

A policy brief and chartpack that provides a detailed breakdown of the U.S. budget for the global health programs in the Administration’s Global Health Initiative as well as historical spending on relevant global health programs that predate the initiative. In addition, the Foundation is regularly updating its fiscal year 2011 budget tracker to reflect the status of key global health programs as the proposal moves through Congress.

Kaiser’s original policy research on U.S. global health policy issues, including the first comprehensive look at the structure and funding of the U.S. government agencies involved in the nation’s global health response.
Polling examining the American public’s views and knowledge on the U.S. involvement in global health issues and causes.

Summaries of news coverage related to the administration’s Global Health Initiative from the Kaiser Daily Global Health Policy Report.

Archived videos and transcripts of relevant events, including Ezekiel Emanuel of the White House Office of Management and Budget discussing the President’s global health budget proposal and a briefing on the global health outcomes of the G-8 Summit featuring Gayle E. Smith of the National Security Council.

The latest on administration announcements related to the Global Health Initiative from Kaiser’s Global Health Policy Tracker, a single reference point for key legislation, policies and programs, government reports and other resources. Downloadable slides with essential data on U.S. support of global health efforts. Country-specific data about U.S. support for global health issues (such as PEPFAR funding) is available through the Global Health Facts database.
